Student Experiences

I have trained in Lau Gar Kung Fu for the last three and a half years. Initially I began training so that I could incorporate it into my Sports Science degree.

This allowed me to look at Kung Fu from a scientific perspective and see how the training provided benefits both mentally and physically.

I have always had an interest in martial arts but due to a knee injury I was advised by a physiotherapist to give up training I was involved with at the time. When I began training in kung Fu I found that the training strengthened my knee. Keith, my Kung Fu instructor, also started treating my knee with acupuncture to speed up the recovery of my injury, in preparation for my black sash grading.
